I will be there – Josephine Lee
Hello! I am eager to present you the evaluation of the speech by Josephine Lee. This speech impresed me a lot, because of the ideas of the speaker and the speech delivery.
1. Speech Content.
The speech begins with the phrase "I will be there", this phrase attrected my attention and I wanted to know the continuation. These words repeats many times during the speech and they may be called link. The body of the speech is clear, becase one can understand the ideas given there. The introduction of the speech coincides with the conclusion : "There are four words that can help you make a friend. You say enough times and follow through. You will make a lifelong friend". I think it is quite interesting technique that helps to persuade the audience to believe these words. Josephine uses example from her life to prove her ideas. I think the examples are appropriate. The speech is coherent and it is easy to follow the speaker's ideas.
I give:
18 pts to organization
14 pts to support
8 pts to cohesion
2. Speech Delivery
To speak about the vocal presentation I want to mention the clarity of the articulation, because it was easy to understand every word in the speech. There were emphases that made the speech more emotional. The tempo, pitch and volume were good. To tell the truth, I really liked the physical presentation. The speaker used gestures to show the conversation between she and her friend. She always looked at her audience and moved on the stage. Josephine was dressed in black dress which was really appropriate for this event. But there is one thing that I did not like at all. It is Josephine's facial expression. Her smile was insincere and sometimes seemed nervous.
I give :
20 pts to vocal presentation
16 pts to physical presentation
3. General Effectiveness
In my opinion, the speaker made good use of time. This time was enough to express her thoughts. I liked this speech because the speaker put a little part of her soul into it and exactly this made it unique.
I give:
5 pts to adherence to time requirments
9 pts to creativity
Well, Josephine Lee gets the following results:
1. Speech Content - 40 of 45 pts
2. Speech Delivery- 36 of 40 pts
3. General Effectiveness - 14 of 15 pts
Josephine Lee's example forced me to improve my physical presentation, because she is very good at it.
